Margaret Oertig, Lecturer in Intercultural Communication at the University of Applied Sciences in Basel (FHNW) and author of the bestselling book "Beyond Chocolate", spoke about swiss culture and our adaptations to this environment as expats. She used personal stories and "aha" moments to illustrate cultural theories, such as politeness strategies. Margaret also expounded on her theory about the possible correlation between women's footwear and cultural differences! This led to fascinating discussions between PWG members over dinner as we shared our own cultural backgrounds, triumphs and mistakes in Switzerland. The evening ended with a question round and wider discussion on the implications for us as professional working women in Switzerland.
