February Meeting "Strategies for Success": 19.02.08

Margaret Brace

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful: Albert Schweitzer How can we create success in our lives? Do we just have to wait for success to show up, or are there techniques that we can use, to help steer our lives? Last Tuesday over 40 PWG members and guests were treated to an engaging and interactive session with Margaret Brace, and we were particularly pleased to welcome 10 first-timers! We started with "three thumps" and "separating heaven and earth" (a travel wellness exercise) before before discussing a definition of success, why planning is important and a five point plan for success. We also learnt that we think 90,000 thoughts a day, of which 75,00 are the same as yesterday. Success is learning to work with the remaining changeable 15,000 thoughts! Margaret encourage us to be sceptical and question her, but she demonstrated a positive, engaging attitude. She models the strategies she teaches! We were given dinner discussion questions but these were hardly needed, since we were all keen to start discussing the ideas we had learnt!
