The evening was warm, the location was a classic and our wine host had a lot of charm. Mr. Gimmel took us on a tour of 5 different wines, whites and reds but it was no ordinary wine tasting. We looked at our wine, the color, it's depth, we smelled it not once but twice and held our breath as we took a sip looking for sweetness, tartness, acidity, saltiness, and finally counted one, two, three....and can now, as a result of our education independently tell how much alcohol is in a wine and if it was aged in an oak barrel or not.
As promised, below please find a list of the wines we tasted, along with links to the websites where the materials used in our tastings can be found.
Cheers!
The table about how to pair wine with
food came from a book that Mr.
Gimmel says even most professionals purchase: Oz
Clarke's Introducing Wine: A Complete Guide for the Modern Wine
Drinker.
Here it is

The wine
aroma wheel and list came from www.aromaster.com. It is easy to navigate to the the
list and the wheel through the site.
