Whether we hate it, love it or just don't know enough about it, the topic of social media does seem to be of some serious interest, at least judging from our highly attended event. Ewa Zawol, director of Social and Mobile Media at OMD, Zürich joined us last evening to show us how PWG can be socially savvy! Already at the beginning of her presentation she managed to convince us that Social Media is not a 'fad' and we were surprised to learn that it is not only Facebook. Social Media is Facebook also, as well as YouTube, Lindkin, Xing, Twitter and actually any website where there is an opportunity to comment or share something (PWG is social!) Ewa has worked with some of the largest consumer product companies in the world, as well as in Switzerland and she showed us the power of social as it relates to these well known brands, with large advertising budgets at their disposal. But what really appealed to a lot of our members was her ability to translate these big success stories coming out of social media, to the world of small business owners and individuals, from a Consultant who networks through Lindkin and Facebook while travelling the US in her mobile home to a young fashion designer entrepreneur from Poland. The message was clear, have a plan, know what you would like to achieve with a social presence, be prepared for negative feedback (don't just delete unwanted comments, use them as an opportunity to understand and respond to your fans,) and finally know your audience, use appropriate language and references. Ewa's enthusiasm was clear and contagious!  So whether you love it, hate it or now have basic knowledge let's not forget what Ewa said, your customers may not expect you to have a Facebook page today, but soon they will say 'What, you don't have a Facebook page?!' Well the PWG now also has one and we are ready to apply Ewa's advice on how to manage it. Go ahead Like Us! on Facebook, and check out the Social Media Revolution Video.
