Our visual identity
Where did we start?
The design of the brand started with an understanding of what our name meant and what we want to represent as an organisation.
What does "group" mean?
A number of people or things that are put together or considered a unit (Cambridge Dictionary).
The logo was design to represent unity – to show that, together, we grow ourselves and the organization into a greater purpose.
The name Professional Women´s Group flows from the abbreviation PWG and the combination of these two elements instantly forms one unit.
Which design elements were used?
The lower half of the letter “G” symbolises an arrow pointing upwards, reflecting a positive direction - PWG has a forward thinking outlook.
The sans serif typeface (Helvetica Neue family) reflects a clean, contemporary image.
By allowing the letters to sit on the edge of the yellow background, it infuses the letters into a white space. This symbolises the "cutting edge" mentality/image of the PWG and open flow of ideas and movement within the group.
The use of space surrounding the letters symbolises breathing space for new thinking patterns and renewal of ideas. It introduces a contemporary twist, whilst also reflecting dynamic movement within the group.
The colour palette (golden yellow with light blue) has been taken from our existing colour scheme. Yellow shows our energy, light and vibrance. Blue provides the solid, stable base that reflects how our group has sustained itself for more than 20 years in Zurich.
The Graphic Designer
PWG would like to thank PWG member Elizabeth Hitchman of Seaglass (Visual Communication) who generously donated her professional time and expertise to create our new visual identity.
